Just So You Know
How tattoos affect the beauty of Thai girls is a contentious matter on many online bar forums. For anyone who has spent time in Thailand's bar scene, tattoos on bar girls is a common sight. From my own experience, tattoos on working girls around the world are not uncommon. Of course, there are hundreds of reasons why working girls, or anyone for that matter, chooses to get a tattoo. In this blog we will be specifically looking at Thai bar girls and some of the different tattoos they most commonly get and perhaps some reasons for their choice of tattoo.
Tattoos and Bar Girls
Differences in tattoos
First things First
First we should mention that there are many different kinds of tattoos that bar girls tend to get and different reasons why they choose to get these tattoos. In this blog I would like to look at the main tattoos I tend to think of when I think about bar girls with tattoos, the Traditional Thai tattoo, the Japanese style tattoo and the cover up tattoo. It should be noted that there are just some examples of tattoos associated with bar girl and we will also look at other kinds of tattoos but this is by no means a complete list. It is, of course, also possible to find bar girls with no tattoos at all. We hope you find this information interesting whether you like bar girls with tattoos or not.
Bar Girl with Sank Yat
Club Electric Blue - Soi 15, Pattaya
Thai Tattoo
Thai tattoos, known as Sak Yant in Thailand, are popular with Thais in all parts of society. Thai tattoos are also popular with tourists and long time staying expats. Sak means “to tattoo” or “to tap,” and yant means “yantra”—a type of mystical diagram. Sak Yant in Thailand are believed a form of protection to ward off evil spirits, offer protection against danger and death, and bring luck, power, and courage. As well as this they are believed to boost a certain trait or personality along with health and wealth. These tattoos believed to be magical. Therefore, it would not be unusual in the past to see Thai warriors and these days, Thai Muai Thai fighters covered in Sak Yant. By getting these tattoos Thai girls will be hoping to bring good luck to themselves and perhaps help them have a better future.
Respect is Common Sense
Billboard Warning - Bangkok Highway
Following on from above, These tattoos are considered not ordinary tattoos and therefore there are some rules for foreigners and Thais getting these tattoos. It is considered disrespectful to have these tattoos below the waist and most definitely not on your feet. Another problem that foreigners sometimes run into is Buddha tattoos which are frowned upon.
Bar Girl with Yakuza Style Tattoo
The Strip Bangkok - Patpong Soi 2, Bangkok
Full Back Tattoos
Another tattoo style that has become popular with Thai bar girls in the past ten year or so is the full back tattoos, often Japanese Yakuza style tattoos. Originally full back tattoos were a painful way for Japanese Yakuza to prove that they had courage and since tattoos were illegal, getting one made them outlaws forever. For the Thai girls these tattoos are more of a fashion statement and a way to show of their wealth. it's not uncommon for Thai girls to show off their wealth, whether it's a Facebook post showing recently bought gold or the new iPhone model, full body tattoos are not cheap and another way to show off their wealth. Often, these tattoos can take many months to finish as Thai bar girls need to wait for a big payday before adding more.
Farang with Soi 6 Tattoo
Celebrity Ink Tattoo - 13/4 Alley, Pattaya
Drunken Mistake Tattoos
Crazy nights and drunken tattoos in Pattaya are common. Most of these tattoos don't turn out well. for Thai girls, some can be cheaply covered up at a later date, for farang some may need to be painfully removed by laser depending on the location. It should be noted, whether a drunken decision or not, we always like "I Love Soi 6" tattoos.
Bar Girl With YouTuber Tattoo
QuintonTV - Popular Thailand Vlogging YouTuber
Love You Long-time Tattoos
Another common tattoo for bar girls to get when drunk is tattoos of the names of random men. Whether this is their long-distance boyfriend/sponsor or a customer they met a few hours earlier, these kind of tattoos will often last much longer than the actual relationship. In the crazy and quickly changing lives of Thai bar girls it's not uncommon to have customers-come-boyfriends move onto a new girl and the Thai bar girls are often left with Tattoos of the names of two or three ex-boyfriends over various appendages.
Bar Girl With "Fuck Me" Tattoo
Wicked Bar - Soi 6, Pattaya
"Tramp Stamp" Tattoos
"Tramp Stamps" are also popular amongst Thai bar girls. However, like most things in Pattaya, things are often taken to the next level. Tramp Stamps on the lower back of Thai girls is a very common tattoo, but taking tramp stamps to the next level, recently becoming more popular is the "fuck Ass" and "Fuck Me" tattoo on either butt cheek. It's easy to assume that these tattoos are the result of a drunken decision but perhaps not. At first glance this may seem like a bad decision or is it actually a genius piece of advertising?
Bar Girl with Cover-up Tattoo
Sapphire Club Agogo - Soi 15, Pattaya
Cover Up Tattoos
Another Tattoo that is common amongst working girls is the cover up tattoo. Specifically, the stomach tattoo. Often when going bar crawling or visiting agogos it's common to see Thai girls with tattoos covering up scars and stretch marks from pregnancy. Working in bars and agogos the girls often have to dance in bikinis or sometimes nothing at all. Any imperfections that may have may reduce the number of drinks they will have bought for them or even the chances of being bar fined. Tattoos are used to cover up some of these imperfections.
Bar Girl with a Face Tattoo
Queen Club - Soi LK Metro, Pattaya
Face Tattoos
With the increase of popularity and the increased ease of access with the internet to hip hop, many Thai girls have taken to hip hop culture and can often been see when outside the bar dressed in baggy clothes and sideways facing caps. Along with this, many Thai bar girls have taken to the gangster style tattoos with words tattooed across their eyebrows and tear drops tattooed to the side of their eyes. Girls with these kinds of tattoos often also have the obligatory face piercings. On the same theme but slightly cuter, another popular face tattoo of Thai bar girls is star and love heart tattoos at the side of their eyes.
Sourheart With full-body Tattoo
Sapphire Club - Soi 15, Pattaya
Full Body Tattoos
Our Bar Girls and Tattoos blog wouldn't be complete without mentioning popular Sapphire Club and Bikini Mafia model Sourheart. Covered head to toe with various tattoos, Sourheart, also known by her nickname Not, has featured in many magazines around the world, often dividing opinion. Most recently found working at Lady Love Agogo on Soi LK Metro, pop in and buy her a drink to ask her about her tattoos yourself.

Wrap Up
Each to their own. Have we missed anything? This is by no means a complete list of tattoos popular with bar girls, but rather some of the more common. Whether you like tattoos or not, Thai bar girls will always have extra cash to burn and be looking for more ways to express themselves. We suggest that you just get used to it. Tattoos on bar girls is a fascinating subject for myself but I am in no ways an expert. I will continue to bar fine as many bar girls as possible to gather more information on this subject.
